Characterization assays for human iPSC
Thermo Fisher Scientific offers a comprehensive portfolio to characterize stem cells to ensure customers work with high quality hESC/iPSC lines. This live training will provide an overview of three PSC characterization service offerings to determine the pluripotency potential (Pluritest), trilineage differentiation potential (Scorecard) and genomic stability (KaryoStat) of stem cells and the type of data one can expect with each service.
Rex E. Lacambacal currently works as a Scientist in the Custom Biology Services Team in Carlsbad, CA. He has significant experience working with stem cells and stem cell techniques, including genome editing, reprogramming, and iPSC characterization. Rex received his undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of California, Riverside. Shortly thereafter, Rex received a scholarship to become an intern for the California Institute of Regenerative Medicine (CIRM) under the direction of Dr. Jeanne Loring at the Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla, CA. His research involved the use of human iPSC models to investigate novel molecular mechanisms by which melanocytes escape from oncogene-induced stress and become dependent on hyperactive MAPK. Rex completed his Master’s degree in Biotechnology with a focus on stem cell biology from the California State University, Channel Islands in 2014 and came to work at Thermo Fisher Scientific shorty after graduating. Today, Rex is heavily involved with iPSC-related projects and provides technical support around Thermo Fisher Scientific’s iPSC characterization services, namely KaryoStat, Pluritest and Scorecard.View Month
